Residential Exterior Painting
The exterior of your home “ages’ with the passage of time and the effects of weather. Paint and stains eventually need to be refreshed. Cardinal Decorating will consult with you on the current condition of your home, whether it is cedar or aluminum sided. We will examine the surface for mildew, which can speed the deterioration of your homes current paint job, look for loose or failing boards and determine the correct approach for applying a fresh finish to your home. Applying fresh paint to your home may include powerwashing, board replacement and applying the new finish…including the trim.

Faux Finishes
In the tradition of the decorative arts “faux finish” as the term implies, refers to fakery or the imitation of various materials. These materials may be natural or fabricated such as marbles, wood grains, leather, polished or oxidized metals. The definition of faux finish today has been expanded to encompass other decorative finishes such as color washes, broken color or distressing techniques, dragging, stippling and so on. Faux finishes have grown in popularity and it is now as common to see a faux finish on a dining room wall as it is to see wallpaper.

Venetian Plaster and Other Architectural Finishes
Venetian Plaster is a technique where a plain wall (drywall or plaster) is transformed by the application of plaster that mimics different old world effects. A kitchen’s walls can be transformed to represent a European villa. A bedroom can become interesting by adding dimension with plaster stencils (color washed and waxed for additional interest) applied to the surface.

Murals
A special scene or a particular effect can be painted onto walls in your home or facility. A favorite vacation scene, like the hills of Tuscany or the beaches of Sanibel can be recreated in your home. Whimsical scenes of a child’s tea party or a tropical rain forest can decorate your child’s room. The use of Trompe L’oeuil can create an illusion of an extra window in a room or frame an existing window with shutters created with a brush, paint and our talented artist.

Wallpaper
A decorative change to your home may necessitate removal of wallpaper. Cardinal Decorating is very experienced in removing wallpaper on walls that may or may not have been prepared properly. A novice removing wallpaper often ends up frustrated by the hours it can take to remove paper…often in bits and with damaged walls. Cardinal Decorating assesses the project and applies the correct products that assist in the quick removal of even the most stubborn papers. We also leave the walls conditioned to accept paint or a new finish, whether it be a faux finish or fresh wallpaper. Our wallpaper hangers are experienced in hanging borders and different widths and quality of papers.

Staining and Varnishing for Cabinets, Windows, Stairs and All Other Trim
New wood added to your home needs to be stained and protected. Cardinal Decorating is experienced in properly preparing, staining and finishing your wood project with protective finishes. Typical projects include staining and sealing new windows, garage doors, trim, cabinets and stairs. Specialty effects include designs in hard wood floors and staining metal doors to resemble wood.

Garage Floors
Concrete floors in garages, basements and various commercial sites (kitchens, vehicle service bays, locker rooms) create dust and a surface that deteriorates with time and use. A “two part” epoxy finish protects your floor from it degrading with time and creates a decorative finish that is easy to keep clean.
